"The world revolves around waste and garbage, while it is unlikely that we think around the box and reuse more than we should. When you think about recycling, you think of bottles, cans, and plastic bags. Not scraps of metal, wood and tools. In the Agricultural living, we reuse almost if not more than we buy. Farmers are some of the most creative hidden talents. My work is the revival of different objects you typically see laying around the land of a farmer, or farm land; that you wouldn't always think of using to make art. Altering the pieces in ways that you typically don't see, makes it unique and wanting more. The two pieces you see, are using two uncommonly reused materials. Horseshoes are used brand new and once removed from a horses foot, they are discarded. Typically seen in piles, rusting and not being used. While my second piece uses a material that is reused frequently. Rocks are removed from fields as they are rototilled and prepared for the upcoming planting season. These rocks are typically reused for rock walls along the property and the boarder of flower gardens. Cairn sculptures are also made, from this material. These piles aren't true cairns, the official term for deliberately stacked rocks. From middle Gaelic, the word means "mound of stones build as a memorial or landmark."
